Novelity of Restoration

The next stage of the preparation of the new exposition of the “Shrines and Treasures of the XIV-XVII centuries Trinity-Sergius Monastery”, for which in 2013 the Museum restorers put more than 20 works in order, has completed. Among the restored exhibits are a small discos of the XV century, which the monastic tradition associates with the name of St. Nikon of Radonezh, 7 crosses of the XIV-XVII centuries, 3 panagias of the 15th and 16th centuries, a bowl - donate of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, 3 cups and a candila (light fixture) - donate of his the nieces of Queen Marfa Staritskaya, two silver lamps - donate of the Godunov, the seventeenth-century frankincense - donate of V.F. Janov.

The famous water-sacred bowl - the вщтфеу of the kelar of Alexander Bulatnikov to the Trinity Monastery in 1631 was also restored.

During 2013, one of the oldest icons in the museum collection, the icon of the 14th century “Saint Anna with the baby Mary”, was prepared for display. The painting was restored by the head of the restoration department, OB Kutsel, framework - restorer E.V. Romashkina under the direction of P.N. Kotelnikov.
