The XII scientific-practical conference "Actual issues of the history of the Moscow region"
On February 16, the XII Scientific Practical Conference "Actual Issues of the History of the Moscow Region" took place in the Moscow State Regional University.
The reports were heard at the sections “Social, political and economic history of the Moscow Region” and “Cultural, historical and spiritual heritage of the Moscow region”.
In the second section, the head of the museum’s historical department Tkachenko Vladimir Alexandrovich made a report “Radonezh as a monument of history and culture and its protected zones”.
He noted that the toponym "Radonezh" unites three settlements: the communal center of the Radonezh volost, which arose in the pre-Mongol period, the princely village of Radonezh of the XIV century, which later became a town, and founded by the Trinity-Sergius Monastery in 1617 on the site of the desolate town, the village of Radonezh (then the village of Gorodok), existing at the present time as the village of Radonezh, Sergiev-Posad district.
